Online supermarkets and grocery delivery in the UK 2026: a ranking built on verified facts
A ranking of UK online supermarkets and grocery delivery services that sell food themselves, built only on verifiable facts from their official pages: the minimum spend, the delivery charge and from what order value delivery is free, same-day or rapid delivery, booking a delivery slot, refunds for poor-quality goods, click and collect, delivery passes and regular orders, whether the website names the company with its Companies House number, and the App Store rating of the app. Every fact links to its source with the date we checked it. This is not advice to buy from a particular service. Places are not for sale.

Not ranked yet: not enough verified data
These services are known to us, but we haven't verified enough facts to rank them fairly.
- Asda (site closed to automated checks, )
- Co-op (site closed to automated checks, )
- Ocado (site closed to automated checks, )
- Riverford (site closed to automated checks, )
- Sainsbury's (site closed to automated checks, )
- Tesco (site closed to automated checks, )
- Waitrose (0% backed by facts)
Sites marked as closed refuse automated reading (403 error, captcha or a robots.txt ban). We don't bypass such protection, so we can't verify their facts and they are not ranked. This says nothing about their quality. A company can send links to its official pages to [email protected].
How we calculate the Score
20%
Reliability
Whether the website names the seller's legal entity, usually with its registration number.
40%
Delivery
Whether delivery can be free at least above a stated order value, whether the service delivers the same day, and whether you can choose a delivery time.
20%
Quality promise
Whether the service's own terms or help pages promise a refund or replacement for poor-quality or damaged goods.
20%
Service
Whether you can collect an order, whether there is a delivery pass or regular order, and the App Store rating of the service's own app.
How to choose a grocery delivery service
Check that it delivers to you
Enter your address or postcode first. Coverage, slots and fees often depend on the nearest store or warehouse.
Add up the real cost
Look at the minimum order, the delivery fee, any small-order or picking charge, and the value from which delivery is free.
Decide how fast you need it
Fast delivery may be limited to some stores and may have its own fee and its own range and prices.
Read the rules on substitutes
See whether a missing item may be replaced, and whether you can reject the replacement at the door without paying.
Know how to report a problem
Check how long you have to report a damaged or poor-quality item and how the refund is paid. Keep a photo and the order confirmation.
Check who the seller is
Look for the seller's legal entity in the terms or imprint. Any complaint is made to that company.
Frequently asked questions
What if the food I receive is faulty?
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you have a short-term right to reject faulty goods within 30 days (section 22). After that, you are entitled to a repair or replacement, and if that fails, to a price reduction or a final right to reject (section 24). Food is often perishable, so report a problem as soon as you find it and check the service's own time limit.
