We compare national classifieds and online used-car dealers and buyers only on facts anyone can check on their own help, fee and terms pages: whether a private seller can place a car ad for free and what the cheapest paid option costs, whether the site gives a market price estimate, whether a buyer can order a VIN or number-plate history report, whether there is a safe deal, escrow, money-back period or other buyer protection, whether sellers are verified, whether the site publishes anti-fraud advice, whether the operator's legal entity is named with its registration number, how long the site has existed and how its iOS app is rated. Car importers and brokers are a separate ranking. Every fact links to its source with the date we checked it. Reviews, prices of cars and the number of ads are not scored. The ranking is not advice to buy a particular car or use a particular site. Places are not for sale.

Which used car site is the best?
The site in first place has the highest Score under our open methodology. This is not advice: look at what matters to you. If you are selling, check For sellers; if you are buying, check Buyer safety. The best site is useless without checking the specific car, so always run the official registration check and have the car inspected.
Where does the data come from?
From the sites' own official pages (help centre, fee lists, terms, imprint or contacts), from official company registers and from the App Store. Every fact links to its page with the date we checked it.
Why don't you count ads or use reviews?
The number of ads changes daily and is rarely published with a date, and reviews cannot be verified reliably. So the Score uses only stable rules that the site publishes itself. Where a site states its number of ads, we show it without scoring it.
Does a safe deal mean the car is fine?
No. A safe deal or escrow protects the payment: the money reaches the seller only after the handover. It does not check the technical condition, mileage or legal status of the car. Read the terms: what is covered, for how long and how to open a dispute.
Can a site buy a place in the ranking?
No. The Score is calculated with the same formula for every site. Paid placements, if they ever appear, will be a separate block labelled as advertising and never affect the Score.
