Best Email Marketing Services 2026: Independent Newsletter and Automation Ranking
We rank email newsletter and marketing automation services using only facts from their own sites: the monthly price of the cheapest paid plan for a list of 1,000 contacts, whether there is a permanent free plan and how many contacts it allows, automated email workflows, A/B testing, landing pages, a public API, a data processing agreement (DPA) under GDPR, double opt-in, storage of your list in the EU, the year the service started and a public status page. Every fact links to an official page with a check date. We do not use reviews, user scores or deliverability tests, which we cannot repeat, and paid placements never change the Score.

How we calculate the Score
30%
Price
Monthly list price in USD of the cheapest paid plan that holds 1,000 contacts, with monthly billing: $0 scores 100, $60 or more scores 0 (weight 3). If plans are sold in list-size tiers, we take the tier that includes 1,000; if a plan is priced by emails per month with no contact limit, we take its lowest tier. Annual-billing discounts and first-months promotions are ignored. If the page shows the price only after a script runs, the fact stays empty. Also a permanent free plan (weight 2) and how many contacts the free plan allows, on a logarithmic scale up to 2,500 (weight 1).
30%
Features
Whether the service offers automated multi-step email workflows (weight 2), A/B testing of emails (weight 1), a landing page builder (weight 1) and a documented public API (weight 1) on any of its plans. The fact shows that a feature exists, not that the cheapest plan has it: check the note under each fact.
25%
Privacy and consent
Whether the vendor offers a GDPR data processing agreement to customers (weight 2), supports double opt-in so subscribers confirm their address (weight 2) and states that subscriber data is stored in the European Union (weight 1). We record the vendor's statement; we do not audit it.
15%
Track record
How long the service has been running: 20 years or more scores 100 (weight 2), and whether it publishes a public status page with incidents (weight 1).
How to choose an email marketing service
Price your real list size
Check the price for the number of contacts you will have in a year, not today, and whether unsubscribed contacts count. Some services bill by contacts, others by emails sent per month.
Check what the cheapest plan leaves out
Automation, A/B testing and landing pages are often limited to higher plans, and free plans add the vendor's logo. Read the plan comparison before you build your workflows.
Collect consent properly
Use double opt-in where the law or your audience expects it, keep proof of consent and sign the vendor's data processing agreement if you handle EU personal data.
Make sure you can leave
Export your contacts and their consent data during the trial. A documented API and CSV export make switching to another service much easier.
Frequently asked questions
Which email marketing service is best?
The service in first place has the highest Score under our open method, but the Score does not measure deliverability or how well a tool fits your work. Compare the price for your list size and the features you actually need.
Why do you compare prices at 1,000 contacts?
Services price by list size in different steps, so a single list size makes them comparable. We take the cheapest paid plan with monthly billing. If your list is much larger, prices change at different rates — use each vendor's calculator.
Why is the price empty for some big services?
Some pricing pages show the price for 1,000 contacts only after a script runs in the browser. We record only what is readable on the official page, so the fact stays empty and lowers data completeness. The note on the service's page shows the entry price we saw.
Do you measure deliverability?
No. Inbox placement depends on your list, content and sending domain, and independent tests are hard to repeat. We use only facts that anyone can check on the vendor's own pages.
What does an empty fact mean?
We could not confirm it on an official page, sometimes because the vendor's site refused automated access. An empty fact scores zero and lowers data completeness. A service with too little data is not ranked.
