How we rank: Cloud Backup
The Score (0–100) is a weighted sum of the factors below. Each factor is the weighted average of its metrics; each metric is calculated from one published fact. Missing facts score zero, and a service is ranked only when enough of its Score is backed by facts.
A service is ranked only when at least 70% of its Score is backed by verified facts.
Price & Storage 30%
The regular yearly price of the cheapest plan that backs up one computer with at least 1 TB or unlimited storage, in US dollars (first-year discounts and lifetime plans are not counted; a monthly-only plan counts as 12 months; prices shown in other currencies are converted at the ECB rate on the check date): $0 scores 100, $150 or more scores 0 (weight 3). Storage included in that plan: 5,000 GB or unlimited scores full (weight 2). Length of the free trial, logarithmic, 30 days scores full (weight 1).

Privacy & Security 30%
Whether you can encrypt the backup with your own private key or password that the company does not keep, so staff cannot read your files (weight 3), whether an independent audit or certification of the service is published — SOC 2 Type 2 or ISO/IEC 27001 (weight 2), and whether sign-in can be protected with a second factor (weight 1).

Backup Features 25%
How long files you deleted on the computer stay recoverable in the backup without extra charges: 365 days or "forever" scores full (weight 2). Whether external drives connected to the computer can be backed up, whether phones can be backed up to the same account, and whether the company can ship your data on a physical drive for a fast restore (weight 1 each). Features of a higher personal plan or a paid add-on count; they are marked in the company notes.

Reputation 15%
Average App Store (US) rating of the company's own app, weighted by the number of ratings (from the official iTunes Lookup API; weight 2), and the age of the service — 15 years or more scores full (weight 1).
