Veterinary clinics in Canada 2026: a fact-based ranking
A ranking of veterinary clinics in Canada based on official sites and the lists published by provincial regulators. We include a clinic only if it appears in such a list or states the registration itself. So far we could read the lists of British Columbia and Saskatchewan, so other provinces are not covered yet. We look at 24/7 care, inpatient care, on-site diagnostics, surgery and prices. This ranking is not veterinary advice and does not assess treatment. Compare Scores only within Canada. The Score is not for sale; any paid placement will be a separate labelled block.

How we calculate the Score
40%
Clinic capabilities
24/7 emergency care, on-site diagnostics (how many of three: X-ray, ultrasound, lab), inpatient care and surgery. We count only what the clinic states; we do not assess treatment quality.
25%
Licence and legal entity
Whether a licence or an entry in a register of veterinary practices is stated (in Germany, the veterinary chamber and vets' licensure), and a legal entity with a registration number.
20%
Transparency
Published price list, complaints procedure, online booking and the number of general contact channels out of four: phone, email, form or chat, address.
15%
Experience and size
Year founded (scale up to 30 years) and number of clinics (log scale up to 100). Size says nothing about treatment quality.
How to choose a veterinary clinic
Find a night clinic in advance
Note the address and phone of the nearest 24/7 clinic while your animal is well. Call before you leave to check they can see you.
Check the documents
Look for the licence or register entry and the legal entity's name. The same organisation should appear on the contract and receipt.
Ask about diagnostics
Ask what is done on site, what goes to an outside lab, and whether inpatient care has night staff.
Ask for an estimate
Before surgery, ask for an approximate cost and the night surcharge. Discuss the treatment itself with the vet.
Frequently asked questions
What does first place mean?
The first-placed clinic has the highest Score under our open method among clinics in that country. It is not a judgement of treatment quality and not veterinary advice.
Can I use the ranking to choose a treatment?
No. We give no medical advice. A veterinarian decides diagnosis and treatment after an examination; in an emergency, call the nearest clinic.
Why are there no reviews?
Reviews are hard to verify and badges from paid lists can be bought. We show only facts from official sites and registers.
Why is some data missing?
If a fact was not found on the official site, or the site is closed to automated checks, we show Not verified and award no points. That does not mean the clinic lacks it.
Can I compare clinics across countries?
No. Licensing and registers differ, so the Score only makes sense within one country.
