Car import to Canada 2026: companies ranked on verified facts
A ranking of Canadian companies that source and import cars for private buyers, mostly from Japan under the 15-year rule, built only on facts from their official websites: published terms, the legal name with a registration number, a landed-cost or duty calculator, published service fees, a client account and vehicle tracking, and years in business. Every fact links to its source with the date we checked it. Rankings are not for sale.

How we calculate the Score
35%
Reliability
Years in business (as stated on the company's website), a published sample contract, the legal entity and registration number shown on the site, and the number of offices.
25%
Transparency
Can you work out the price in advance: a full landed-cost calculator, a customs duty calculator, the company's own service fees and published delivery times.
25%
Service
A client account, tracking the car by VIN or lot number, how many countries the company imports from and whether it handles customs clearance.
15%
Public presence
Whether the company runs a YouTube channel with videos of its car sourcing and deliveries, which makes its real work easier to see. We do not count reviews: their number cannot be reliably checked.
How to choose a car import company
Check the legal entity in the register
The website should name the legal entity and its registration number (UNP in Belarus, INN/OGRN in Russia, BIN in Kazakhstan). Look it up in the official register: how long it has existed and whether it is being wound up. Sign the contract with that company, not with a private person.
Read the contract before any prepayment
The contract should state exactly what the company does (sourcing, purchase, shipping, customs), deadlines, who is liable for damage in transit and how the prepayment is returned if the car is not bought or not delivered. If there is no sample online, ask for one in advance.
Compare the landed price, not the auction price
The final price is the car plus auction fees, shipping to the port and overland, customs duties, the recycling fee, certification and the company's fee. Ask for a line-by-line estimate and check the customs part with the official customs calculator.
Know how and to whom you pay
It is safer when money goes by invoice to the seller's or auction's account and the company's fee is paid separately under the contract. Transfers to personal cards or demands to pay the full amount upfront are warning signs.
Check the car's history by VIN
Before buying, ask for the VIN and a history report: mileage, accidents, insurance claims, auction photos. After purchase, track the car by VIN or lot number; the ranking shows which companies offer this in a client account.
Check your country's import rules
Duty and recycling fee rates depend on the car's age, engine size and type, and they change. Right-hand-drive cars cannot be registered in Kazakhstan. If you import under a tax relief scheme, find out how long you must keep the car before selling it.
Frequently asked questions
Which car import company is the best?
The company in first place has the highest Score under our open methodology. But look at what matters to you: if you worry about losing a prepayment, check Reliability (contract and legal entity on the website); if the final price matters most, check Transparency.
Where does the data come from?
From the companies' official websites: contract, calculator, contacts and About pages. Every fact links to its page with the date we checked it. The founding year is what the company states about itself; if in doubt, check it against the official company register.
Why don't you count reviews?
Review counts on a company's own website cannot be verified, and reviews on platforms can be faked. So the Score only uses what is visible on the official website and does not depend on anyone's opinion.
Does the ranking guarantee a company is honest?
No. It shows how openly a company works: whether it publishes its contract, company details and prices. Before paying, always check the legal entity in the official register and read the contract.
Can a company buy its position?
No. The Score uses the same formula for every company. Paid placements, if we ever add them, will be a separate block labelled "Sponsored" and do not affect the Score. If a company is linked to the owner of this website, its page says so.
