Insurance companies in Saudi Arabia 2026: a ranking built on verified facts

A ranking of insurance companies in Saudi Arabia that serve private customers, built only on verifiable facts: since when the company has been operating as an insurer (official website), whether it states a rating of its own from a recognised agency, whether it publishes reports, whether you can buy a policy and report a claim online, and whether its policy terms and complaints procedure are published. Every fact links to its source with the date we checked it. This is not advice to choose a particular insurer. Places are not for sale.

Not ranked yet: not enough verified data

These services are known to us, but we haven't verified enough facts to rank them fairly.

How we calculate the Score

40%

Reliability

The year the company was first licensed as an insurer (from the supervisor's register or, where the register shows no date, from the official website), a financial strength rating from a recognised agency stated on the website, published annual reports and membership of a banking or insurance group.

30%

Service

Whether you can buy a policy online and report a claim on the website or in an app, whether there is a mobile app and a 24/7 phone line, and how many offices the company has in the country.

15%

Products

How many of six main retail lines the company offers: compulsory motor third-party liability, motor own damage (comprehensive), home and property, travel, health or accident, and life.

15%

Transparency

Whether the policy terms and conditions, the complaints procedure and the tariffs or a premium calculator are published on the website.

How we rank

How to choose an insurance company

  1. Check the licence in the register

Only companies licensed by the national supervisor may sell insurance. Find the company in the supervisor's register (for example the Bank of Russia, KNF in Poland or BaFin in Germany) and make sure the licence is active and covers the type of insurance you need.

  2. Read the policy terms

What a policy covers is decided by its terms and the contract, not by advertising. Look at the exclusions, the deductible, the sum insured and how the payout is calculated (with or without depreciation, repair or cash).

  3. Learn the claims procedure in advance

Check whom to call, how soon you must report an event, which documents you will need and whether claims can be reported online. Save the 24/7 phone number if there is one.

  4. Compare cover, not only price

A cheap policy may come with a high deductible or narrow cover. Compare the same conditions at several insurers: sum insured, deductible, list of risks and claims settlement time.

  5. Buy on the official website or from an official agent

Buy an e-policy on the insurer's own website or app and check the web address. Where the insurer or the supervisor offers a policy check by number, use it.

  6. Know where to complain

If you disagree with a decision, first send a written complaint to the insurer. Next steps are the financial ombudsman or the supervisor, and then court. Insurers usually publish their complaints procedure on their website.

Frequently asked questions

Which insurance company is the best?

The company in first place has the highest Score under our open methodology. This is not advice: look at what matters to you. If you care about the insurer's stability, check Reliability; if convenience matters, check Service (online policies and claims). Always read the policy terms for the actual cover.

Where does the data come from?

From the supervisors' registers (Ministry of Finance in Belarus, Bank of Russia, ARDFM in Kazakhstan, KNF in Poland, BaFin in Germany) and from the insurers' official websites. Every fact links to its page with the date we checked it.

Why don't you use reviews or popularity rankings?

Reviews and media rankings cannot be verified reliably, and the number of complaints grows with the size of the company. So the Score uses only what is visible in the official register and on the insurer's website. A financial strength rating counts only as a yes/no fact from a recognised agency; we do not compare rating grades.

Does the ranking guarantee that a claim will be paid?

No. The ranking shows how openly a company works and how easy it is to deal with. Whether a claim is paid depends on the policy terms and your contract. Before buying, check the licence in the supervisor's register and read the terms.

Can a company buy a place in the ranking?

No. The Score is calculated with the same formula for every company. Paid placements, if they ever appear, will be a separate block labelled as advertising and never affect the Score.
